So all you Can-Am guys just hold on. I already know what you're going to say: "In '84 Can-Am only built 250cc and smaller enduros. Can-Am never built an '84 406 ASE. Their 400 enduros weren't built until '85 and were only sold as 1985 models, and they looked totally different than this." Well, you would be right AND wrong because they actually did build one '84 406 bike, and here it is. This started out life from the Canadian factory as a 250 ASE and was then specially modified at Can-Am Canada to encompass their Bombardier Rotax 406 motor. Came with upgraded 40mm Marzocchi forks, heavy duty White Power (WP) rear shock, gold anodized Akront rims, small/narrow MX fuel tank, Malcolm Smith leather tool bag, Cagiva dog-leg style levers, new tires & tubes, Answer Products silencer/spark arrestor, etc.
This bike was built by Bombardier LTD in Canada for their team rider Wayne Lovell. Bike was constructed at factory for the Canadian National Enduro series, which Wayne won in 1984. This is the championship winning bike, which has been completely restored. Bike was then given to Wayne as a reward for winning the championship, and then I recently purchased from Wayne. Canada title is still in Wayne's name.
This is the ONLY 1984 406 ASE ever built by Can-Am. Documentation to prove is included, including Mr. Lovell's contact info for verbal confirmation.
This bike has had all front & rear suspension professionally rebuilt, new electronic CDI ignition installed, new foam air cleaner element, new seat cover, all of the impossible to find original fenders / side panels / graphics were restored, original odometer, original bars-controls-levers-etc. Engine was disassembled and checked for tolerances (excellent) and then reassembled. Runs excellent. Original 'Quad-Link' suspension is super plush. Entire bike was disassembled and restored. Bike rides just great.
Like I said before, the production ASE 406 wasn't built or available until 1985, and those bikes looked quite different from this bike. This bike sits super tall like all mid-'80's dirt bikes did back then, so if you are a shorter person then please keep that in mind.
This bike comes with it's original 1984 Canadian title, original Canadian
street legal
license plate, original workshop manual and owner's manual, and information regarding the Can-Am factory rider that this bike was specially built for. Also comes with original Acerbis front number plate headlight that needs minor resto. If you are a collector of rare 'works' or 'one off' motorcycles then please know that this is the only 1984 406 ASE in existence, and it is beautiful.
