This bike needs obvious attention but it is 99% complete and all original as far as I can tell. Listing it as a project  for those of you who like to do your own restos. Front lower fork legs have been polished. Maier side panels. Needs rubber strap to hold on boost bottle, as well as various other bits to complete as well. Needs grips.
Core Rebuilder or parts bike. Typical Arizona 'sun roached', but the good part is that there is no corrosion on these bikes. Look at photos closely please; lots of good parts here.
Excellent project bike. This bike has great compression and the motor turns smoothly. Wheels look great. Tires are near new. Original pipe and silencer look really good too. THIS BIKE IS A RUNNER.
The '82 model YZ 490 was a landmark bike, as Yamaha basically went all-out on giving it a true rocket of a motor. '82 J model was Yamaha's most powerful 490, and these big bore Yamaha 2-strokes were detuned every year until they became more 'manageable'. If you're looking for horsepower, look no further than the '82 YZ490J.
New for '82 rear
Suspension feels pretty good and no leaks noted, and front forks are not leaking. Rims look good.

NO TITLE
Bike will need cosmetic and partial mechanical resto, but what a great rust free original to start from. Bike is super dirty but is in very good shape underneath all of that crusty crap.

If you want to pay me the total amount via paypal, you may do so only if you are willing to pay full price ('buy it now' option). Then I will absorb the fees.
